Versatile attire for the home-office professional

One perk of working from home is being able to wear whatever you please. However, you never know when you're going to get a surprise visit from a client. Or a polite knock on the door by a Jehovah's Witness. Or two Jehovah's Witnesses.

It's moments like these that are tailor made for Swakis. These are hybrid pants. Part sweats, part khakis. Hence, Swakis™.

Swakis give you all the comfort of sweat pants, but exude the professionalism of khakis.

Of course, launching a product in today's economic climate is not easy. That's why Swakis ship with a built-in incentive designed to influence consumer preference. So you're in the department store dressing room trying on a pair of Swakis. You slide your hand in the pockets and there's a little treat waiting for you. What is it? It's potato pancakes, or latkes.

Latkes for your Swakis.

Order today, while they're fresh.

Note to Newspapers: 365 negatives don’t make a positive.

Newspapers are folding daily. This is in part due to trends that are out of their control, mainly that people are getting their news online. But newspapers are also digging their own graves with their daily dose of negative headlines.

Yes, things are bad. But who wants to be reminded of that every morning at 7:00 am. Is dwelling on the negative helping us rebound in any way?

My wife and I get two newspapers delivered to our apartment door—or used to. We recently canceled them both and have noticed a significant improvement in our daily mood.

Our thoughts determine our feelings. If all we are exposed to is bad news, we’re all destined to feel lousy. That doesn’t seem like an ingredient to economic recovery.

The election of Obama in November taught us that people are tired of fear and negativity. They want hope. So let’s have a little impromptu election between two headlines and see if the same holds true. Vote for the headline you’d rather wake up to:

“Teen gunman who killed 16 at German school is slain by police”

or

“Woolworths Store Reopened as 'Wellworths', Former Staff Rehired”

Exit polls indicate Wellworths is headed for a landslide victory.

Newspaper journalists and editors have tremendous influence. They can shape our minds. And they can write about whatever they choose. It’s time they start using their ink in a more positive way.

Don't take it from me, take it from Bob Marley.

(Lyrics to "Positive Vibrations")

Live if you want to live
(rastaman vibration, yeah! positive!)
Thats what we got to give!
(ini vibration yeah! positive)
Got to have a good vibe!
(iyaman iration, yeah! irie ites!)
Wo-wo-ooh!
(positive vibration, yeah! positive!)

If you get down and you quarrel everyday,
Youre saying prayers to the devils, I say. wo-oh-ooh!
Why not help one another on the way?
Make it much easier. (just a little bit easier)

Say you just cant live that negative way,
If you know what I mean;
Make way for the positive day,
cause its news (new day) - news and days -
New time (new time), and if its a new feelin (new feelin), yeah! -
Said its a new sign (new sign):
Oh, what a new day!

Pickin up?
Are you pickin up now?
Jah love - jah love (protect us);
Jah love - jah love (protect us);
Jah love - jah love (protect us).

Rastaman vibration, yeah! (positive!)
Ini vibration, yeah! (positive!) uh-huh-huh, a yeah!
Iyaman iration, yeah! (irie ites!) wo-oo-oh!
*positive vibration, yeah! (positive!)

Pickin up?
Are you pickin up now?
Pickin up?
Are you pickin up now?
Pickin up? (jah love, jah love -)
Are you pickin (protect us!) up now?
Pickin up? (jah love, jah love -)
Are you pickin (protect us!) up now?
Pickin up? (jah love, jah love -)
Are you pickin (protect us!) up now?
Pickin up?
Are you pickin up now?

Highway Boogers

You pick your nose while driving, right?

If you answered no, perhaps you should make, "being more honest with yourself" one of your 2009 New Years Resolutions.

If you answered yes, you might appreciate my latest automotive invention.

The Booger Holder.

A distant cousin of the cup holder, the Booger Holder is a secure, stylish, sanitary, temporary storage compartment that sits in the center console area of your car.

So rather than flick your boogers out the window and pollute America's highways, or soil your floor-mats with personal pollution, just store your boogers temporarily in the Booger Holder until you get home, or to the service station. Then simply remove the Booger Holder and empty it in the appropriate trash receptacle.

While it may not be as macho as horsepower, or as luxurious as Corinthian leather, the Booger Holder represents a simple, practical solution for both drivers and passengers, who otherwise have no environmentally responsible place to store the fruits of their labor.

If we're serious about cleaning up the planet, we need plug-in hybrids, and we need Booger Holders.
